This photo safari takes place in the majestic Mashatu Game Reserve, located in the Northern Tuli Block of Botswana, which borders South Africa. This is in an area of wide open spaces that embodies the best of Africa. Mashatu supports healthy populations of game, both big and small and the diversity also makes for excellent photography of the predators, Leopard, Lion and Cheetah, often from very close quarters.
The Tuli Block is perhaps best known for its large population of elephant, and in Mashatu these great creatures are habituated to and comfortable around the game drive vehicles, allowing for fantastic photo opportunities.
Our photo safaris take place from Autumn to Spring (the dry season) taking advantage of the best light as well as the congregations of wildlife along the river beds. This is also an excellent location for bird photography, with raptors, hunting doves and guinea fowl at the waterholes, a common sight.
